Google celebrates the Chromecasts third birthday
Il ripristino dati di fabbrica pu� sembrare che cancelli tutto ma non � cosi.
Scorriamo le voci fino a che non troviamo "Backup e ripristino" --> Dati di fabbrica e dopo pochi minuti troviamo tutto pulito come se lavessimo appena acquistato. Pura illusione.
Secondo una regola dellinformatica i file che andremo a cancellare in realt� non verranno eliminati ma segnati come liberi e riscrivibili. In teoria sarebbe facile risalire ai dati precedentemente immessi.
Esattamente quello che ha fatto Avast.
Tramite ebay la societ� ha acquistato 20 smartphone Android usati e apparentemente resettati, tramite FTK imager (Forensic ToolKit imager), di dominio pubblico, � riuscita a risalire a tutte le informazioni presenti.
Avast ha recuperato 40.000 foto personali tra cui 1.500 foto di bambini, 250 selfie, 750 testi ed e-mail, 250 contatti, le app preinstallate e lidentit� dei precedenti proprietari.
Dopo questo test di Avast, Google si � sentita in dovere di dare delle spiegazioni.
"Questa operazione � possibile solo su vecchie versioni di Android, mentre gli smartphone con le nuove release del sistema operativo non permettevano questo comportamento"Oggettivamente questo � vero, chi lo esegue � soltanto perch� si tenta di vendere un usato su di un sistema operativo ormai datato per cui il problema si presenter� per diversi anni.
La soluzione proposta � quella di crittografare il tutto ma per i tecnici esperti di sicurezza potrebbe non bastare.
La procedura spiegata ora consente di eliminare tutto senza grandi conoscenze.
La pi� veloce � seguire questo LINK che permette di cancellare tutti i dati. Si tratta di un Freemium, ovvero un programma che fornisce tutte le funzionalit� di base gratuitamente.
Un altro sistema in modo manuale che vale su tutti gli Android � quello di eseguire la cifratura del dispositivo (Impostazioni --> Sicurezza --> [voce dedicata alla criptazione dei dati]). Non elimina definitivamente i dati ma � un inizio.
Dopodich� fare un ripristino dello smartphone alle impostazioni originali sotto la voce "Backup e ripristino". Adesso andiamo a immettere altri dati che andranno a sovrascrivere quelli criptati e cancellati ma ancora recuperabili.
Proviamo ora a mettere foto false, documenti a caso e contatti fasulli. Andiamo a rieseguire il Ripristino dati di fabbrica e questo si preoccuper� solo di rimuovere i file fasulli appena immessi.
Una volta completato saranno rintracciabili soltanto i file fasulli e i primi dati, quelli reali, saranno irrecuperabili.
In questo modo il nuovo possessore non potr� minimamente risalire ai vostri dati decriptando i file ne riuscir� a risalire ai vostri dati e identit�.
Adesso siete pronti per venderlo o regalarlo.

Google Cast is the next evolution of Chromecast now with an accent on third party support
Googles own video and audio casting platform seems to have undergone a significant image change. If you are currently using a Chromecast device, you might have noticed that after its last update, the Chromecast app is now called Google Cast. Not much has changed withing the update in terms of functionality, but the re-branding is definitely more than mere cosmetic work.
Like the new name suggests, Google is now branching out and trying to convey the message that its casting solution is no longer a proprietary thing. Besides its own dongles, the platform is now supported by a growing number of smart TVs from vendors like Sony and Sharp, as well as speakers. The list of third-party partners is also growing, Philips, B&O PLAY, Harman/Kardon and Raumfeld are all lined up to release audio equipment and VIZIO is the latest company to join in the Google casting ranks with both audio and video offers. Its new P-series TVs are now filly compatible with the streaming technology and some of them even come with their own little tablet-like remote device that can be used to stream content. Neat!
This, actually looks to be indicative of what is going on behind the scenes and it is really quite natural. All these third party partners simply seem to be integrating the Chromecast hardware within their systems. It is elegant and cheap and makes quite a lot of sense when you think about it.
And if the VIZIO TVs just happen to spike your interest, they will be available in a wide range of sizes, starting at 50 inches for $1,000 and moving up to 55 inches at $1,300, 65 inches at $2,000 and finally a 75-inch one that will set you back $3,800.
