Google Analytics is Enhancing Support for AMP
Over the past year, developers have adopted the Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) technology to build faster-loading pages for all types of sites, ranging from news to recipes to e-commerce. Billions of AMP pages have been published to date and Google Analytics continues its commitment to supporting our customers who have adopted AMP.
However, we have heard feedback from Google Analytics customers around challenges in understanding the full customer journey due to site visitors being identified inconsistently across AMP and non-AMP pages. So were announcing today that we are rolling out an enhancement that will give you an even more accurate understanding of how people are engaging with your business across AMP and non-AMP pages of your website.
How will this work?
This change brings consistency to users across AMP and non-AMP pages served from your domain. It will have the effect of improving user analysis going forward by unifying your users across the two page formats. It does not affect AMP pages served from the Google AMP Cache or any other AMP cache.
When will this happen?
We expect these improvements to be complete, across all Google Analytics accounts, over the next few weeks.
Are there any other implications of this change?
As we unify your AMP and non-AMP users when they visit your site in the future, you may see changes in your user and session counts, including changes to related metrics. User and session counts will go down over time as we recognize that two formerly distinct IDs are in fact the same user; however, at the time this change commences, the metric New Users may rise temporarily as IDs are reset.
In addition, metrics like time on site, page views per session, and bounce rate will rise consistent with sessions with AMP and non-AMP pageviews no longer being treated as multiple sessions. This is a one-time effect that will continue until all your users who have viewed AMP pages in the past are unified (this can take a short or long period of time depending on how quickly your users return to your site/app).
Is there anything I need to do to get this update?
There is no action required on your part, these changes will be automatically rolled out.
Will there be changes to unify users who view my pages both on my domain and in other contexts?
Some AMP pages are not visited directly on the domain where the content is originally hosted but instead via AMP caches or in platform experiences. However we decided to focus on fixing the publisher domain case first as this was the fastest way we could add value for our clients.
We are committed to ensuring the best quality data for user journey analysis across AMP and non-AMP pages alike and this change makes that easy for AMP pages served on your domain. We hope you enjoy these improvements - and as always, happy analyzing!

At some point this February, my husband set off to retrieve the family camper from South Jersey. We had (once again) dropped the pop-up off for some repairs at the dealership, where it proceeded to stay for the better part of two months awaiting parts and pieces.
At last everything was right as rain and while Jeremy went to pick it up, I did boring weekend chores like grocery shopping and banking.
Well. We just happened to pull back into our driveway at the same time Jeremy was pulling up with the camper. The squeals of delight that erupted from the backseat shocked me because, quite frankly, it is just a pop-up and did we really miss seeing the hulking beast in our driveway all winter? Apparently so. I played along, expressing utter glee (Hip Hip Hooray! The camper is back!) as I ushered the boys into the house.
Do you see the punchline of this story coming? I certainly didnt.
Here is the thing I discovered as I watched an enormous multiples meltdown shatter the peace of our Saturday morning: the boys were not excited that the camper was back. They were excited because they thought we were going camping. Right then. In February.
You try explaining weather and seasons and months and all that waiting nonsense to two and a half year-olds. See how that goes for you. I told them it was too cold for camping. They started to furiously pull out hats and gloves from the closet and insisted that they were not cold. Here all of my propaganda about it never being too cold to play outside came back to bite me big time.
I eventually took them outside and pointed to the trees in our backyard. I told them that we couldnt go camping until the leaves had grown back on the trees. They had to be very patient and watchful boys, keeping an eye on the trees. I dont know why this worked, but it did. Theo in particular spent the next week giving me the daily update on the leaf situation. Eventually, the boys moved on and I heard not a peep about the camper through the whole month of March.
So I was pretty excited to tell them last week that we were finally going camping:
Guess what, I asked in that goofy drawn-out singsong mommy voice.
What, they replied, thinking they might be getting something with sugar in it.
We get to go camping this weekend! Isnt that exciting?
No we not, says my master of the universe toddler.
What do you mean, honey? Yes, we are going camping. This weekend. We leave in two days.
Mommy, we cant go camping. The leaves arent on the trees.
This argument continued as we packed, loaded up, and set off on our journey to North Carolina. Somewhere in Virginia I triumphantly turned to Theo and said, Look! See all those leaves on the trees. I told you there would be leaves.
To which he replied disdainfully, No Mama--those arent trees; those are bushes.

First official teaser video for the OnePlus 3 is out
OnePlus has outed a video teaser of its upcoming OnePlus 3 smartphone. Released by OnePlus India on YouTube, its just a 6-second video that doesnt reveal anything specific about the devices design or its specs.
However, what it does reveal is that the device will be made official on June 14 (10:00 PM), which is not inline with the June 15 date confirmed by OnePlus China recently.
It might simply be the case of the Chinese launch coming a day later than the international one. Aside from this, the teaser also tells us that the phone will be an Amazon exclusive.
In case you missed, OnePlus has announced that a total of 1,000 units of the OP3 will be up for grabs on June 6 in China. Read more about the flash sale here.

Remember the Phone Biz, which was announced by erstwhile Sony brand VAIO back in February this year? Well, the device is now available for purchase, although currently only in Sonys home country of Japan.
The 5.5-inch, Win10-powered handset went on pre-order last month, and shipments have now begun. If you missed the pre-order opportunity, youll be glad to know that phone is also available for purchase from the VAIO store.
Whats worth mentioning is that the Phone Biz is listed on VAIOs website for JPY 59,184 (around $535), which is different (and considerably up) from the JPY 50,000 ($430) price tag that the company revealed when the device was announced.
For those in the US, sadly, the company has already confirmed that it currently has no plans to launch to device in the country.

Googles own video and audio casting platform seems to have undergone a significant image change. If you are currently using a Chromecast device, you might have noticed that after its last update, the Chromecast app is now called Google Cast. Not much has changed withing the update in terms of functionality, but the re-branding is definitely more than mere cosmetic work.
Like the new name suggests, Google is now branching out and trying to convey the message that its casting solution is no longer a proprietary thing. Besides its own dongles, the platform is now supported by a growing number of smart TVs from vendors like Sony and Sharp, as well as speakers. The list of third-party partners is also growing, Philips, B&O PLAY, Harman/Kardon and Raumfeld are all lined up to release audio equipment and VIZIO is the latest company to join in the Google casting ranks with both audio and video offers. Its new P-series TVs are now filly compatible with the streaming technology and some of them even come with their own little tablet-like remote device that can be used to stream content. Neat!
This, actually looks to be indicative of what is going on behind the scenes and it is really quite natural. All these third party partners simply seem to be integrating the Chromecast hardware within their systems. It is elegant and cheap and makes quite a lot of sense when you think about it.
And if the VIZIO TVs just happen to spike your interest, they will be available in a wide range of sizes, starting at 50 inches for $1,000 and moving up to 55 inches at $1,300, 65 inches at $2,000 and finally a 75-inch one that will set you back $3,800.

VLC 2 0 for Android is out now with network browsing
After what seemed like age-long testing, VLC for Android 2.0 has graduated to stable release. Some things do take a long time to perfect, just remember how long Gmail had its "beta" subtitle and when it comes to LVC, there is definitely a reputation to live up to.
The main highlight of VLC 2.0 is its eagerly-anticipated network browsing feature, which is finally added to the mix. As fans would expect, it offers quite a versatile list of supported protocols, including Windows shares, UPnP, NFS, FTP and SFTP.
Another major milestone achieved through version 2.0 is the merge between the general Android and Android TV versions of the software. This not only unifies the experience and ensures quick update dissipation, but has also allowed VideoLAN to leave both the standard and TV interfaces in. You can switch between them on any of your devices right from the settings menu.
Other improvements in the new version include faster decoding and playback of all video types and a few rewritten components, like the notification controls and pop-up video. With so much AMP content being published every week, Google Analytics continues to evolve to support those of our customers who have adopted AMP.
Today we are excited to be the first supporting vendor to announce a new service, Google�s AMP Client ID API, that will enable the same benefits for AMP pages displayed via Google surfaces. In May of this year we launched a solution to help you better understand your customers� journeys across AMP and non-AMP experiences that were hosted on your own domain. Google�s AMP Client ID API will enable the same benefits for AMP pages displayed by Google such as in Google Search.
To get started you�ll have to opt-in to this solution via a code change. The small code change is required on both your AMP and non-AMP websites to enable this as well as an acknowledgement of the new Google Analytics terms for usage of this API.
Opt into this new feature today to get deeper insight into how users are interacting with your AMP pages.

The small code change is required on both your AMP and non-AMP websites to enable this as well as an acknowledgement of the new Google Analytics terms for usage of this API.
When will this happen?
The ability to opt-in to this solution is available today and you can find code instructions and new terms here. Please review the documentation and opt-in when you are ready.Are there any other implications of this change?
Once you opt-in to this solution you will notice changes to some of your metrics. Your user and session metrics will drop down to more accurate counts as formerly distinct users are recognised as the same person, as well as related metrics that will also become more accurate (such as Time on Site and Bounce Rate). And New Users may rise temporarily. This is a function of the product more accurately counting your users. Its a one-time effect that will continue until all your users who have viewed AMP pages in the past return to your site (this can take a short or long period of time depending on how quickly your users return to your site/app). Missed Classic 6 Wonderland Part The First – In Which Alice Stumbles Blindly As Is Her Wont

What a strange day today has been!, Alice declared. I had only thought to follow that strange white rabbit, and now I am stuck in some other world, of marmalade jars and pear lanterns!
The Reviewer tutted. Oh, Alice, what a terrible memory you have! The pears were in your world, so is this world so strange?
Alice frowned. You may have a point, but I am entirely uncertain what it is.
The Reviewer smiled, and took another puff of his hookah As it should be.
This first section is mostly to do with what exploration we can do before we get to Wonderland, and to highlight the design of this first, introductory segment of the game. Be warned, Ill be copy pasting some of the text, to give you an idea of the writing here. Lets start with our somewhat wordy introduction. There is a splash screen (Based on the box art), and a short musical sting, but apart from that, I havent yet heard any sound or music. Considering this was the first port of the game to the Magnetic Scrolls engine, Im pretty sure thats almost all we get.
Alice was beginning to get very tired of sitting by her sister on the bank, and having nothing to do. It would have been bad enough having to watch Emily read her book all afternoon without the additional bother of trying to stay awake in this terrible heat.
Anyway, what kind of book has no pictures or conversation, you wonder to yourself. All of your books are far more interesting, being crammed full of pictures and conversation, which is just as well,really, as theres never enough room left for boring old words.
Why couldnt Dinah have come with us today, you wonder drowsily to yourself. Shes far more fun than Emily even though shes only a cat. Anyway, Emilys too old and sensible to be any fun.
Why is it, you muse, that cats while away the entire winter sitting by the fire and yet guard their chosen spot of shade with an equal degree of ferocious fanaticism in mid-summer? Strange animals, cats.

My my, we are a little... BRAT. Still, theres nothing amazing going on, lets try and raise hell! We begin on a riverbank, also next to our sister, Emily, who, in the grand traditions of Victorian upbringing, is completely ignoring us. Funny, that. Weve got no obvious goals right now (Although I have a feeling well be seeing a White Rabbit sooner or later) , so we try some things...
We cant hit Emily, because were sanctimoniously told: “Now, youll only turn people against you if you do things like that and quite frankly you need all the help you can get.” Okay, Id already figured this wasnt a violent game. Sleeping just acts like waiting, except it says “Zzzzz...” instead of the good old “Time passes.” … Emily wont let us read the book, or take our clothes off for a swim, and, come to think of it... We cant swim. Southwest of us is a lane, Emilys not stopping us from going anywhere, so lets go there...
There is nothing interesting beyond the description and graphics here. Wow, this is pretty empty. Okay, fine, West to the Field.
Again, nothing, because theres a bramble hedge. But, just on a hunch, lets wait... Five actions later, the rabbit appears. The next, hes past us and into the hole.
...Wait, what hole? I get the distinct feeling we arent getting the whole story. I also get the feeling we have timed events going on... Well, sod it, lets follow him... Whereupon we smack our head on the roof of the rabbit hole (Because its dark), get woken up by a beech nut dropping on our head from the tree (Because we were dreaming, didnt you read Wonderland?), and we get treated to a witch-hazel flavoured game over. Confirmed, this game has deaths. Although it does warn us that we shouldnt go any further, so its an avoidable one, in this case.
Lets start again, and this time, lets try the other way. Before we do, however, the map so far. The missing portions are the dark rabbit hole (West), a country lane that not only seems to extend endlessly, it does extend endlessly (South), and a Pear Grove (East).
Okay, fine, this time well go east first. And Ill gif this, because its important to see how big of a spoiler the graphics can sometimes be. If you come into this room in the first turn... Its just pears. But the gif will play once every time you enter the room. Whoops. Either way, theres only one pear-lantern we can get, and we can either pick it up now (And it miraculously turns into a lantern), or we can wait until it changes.
So theres another thing confirmed: Were playing an old adventure game (with all that implies)... And its using dream rules as well. This... Doesnt bode well. Oh well, time to catch the rabbit!
Entering the rabbit hole, we find that the thing that caused our first game over was... The tunnel tightening up a bit. Also a sharp bend that means we turn south now to follow thaAAAAAHHHHHHhhhhhhhhh...
I fell into a rather long tunnel, with busts, and owls, and windows... All manner of things! I wish I could have saved a screenshot that does it justice, because its actually a long, looping animation, pretty smooth too... But GIF capture has its limits, and every attempt at capturing it has led to failure.
Right, falling past all manner of things, I know this from the Disney movie. I dont remember seeing a marmalade jar mid fall, however, so, just to be safe, I grab it before we fall onto some soft leaves. Better safe than sorry, after all...
So, after the first twenty minutes of playing, saving, loading and writing, weve found ourselves in Wonderland, and... Already theres death. No need for help yet, folks, but before I head off, lets take a look at the hints, and how it impacts our score...

On the fifth turn, two things happen at the same time: The rabbit turns up, complaining about how savagely hes going to get treated by the Duchess for being late, and the pears turn into lanterns. We know where the rabbits going, we know what he looks like, so we might as well pick up the pear. Which is a lantern. Which already hurts my brain. And nets us a whole 4 points. Out of what turns out to be...
