Google adds Emergency Location Service to Android rolling out first in the UK and Estonia
Google adds Emergency Location Service to Android rolling out first in the UK and Estonia

Girls Night Okay Afternoon Out Zip Lining in Asheville NC
Girls Night Okay Afternoon Out Zip Lining in Asheville NC
Three years ago, the Asheville community was all abuzz about a coming attraction, and it was NOT the impending arrival of our Max and Theo. Navitat, a zip lining company (or "tree-based adventure company" as they like to call themselves), was opening in the mountains. It was the areas hottest ticket. Everyone was doing it. Everyone was raving. Everyone except Jeremy and me.
Bad timing on our part, huh? We had been traveling down to Asheville for the last five years, and they decide to open this place when I am 200 pounds and pregnant with twins. Way to throw the whole life change thing in my face.
Anyway, the topic kept coming up over the last two years and I seriously considered it each and every time we visited. The hassle of arranging to be away from twin infants was just always a little too much of a hurdle for me. Next time, I would promise myself.
That is...until THIS TIME!!! Because I am now a mother of toddlers and I am capable of anything. No more "Ohhh, babies, how can I possibly leave you for even a precious moment?" Now its "There is milk in the fridge, peanut butter in the cabinet, and the rest you can figure out!" The boys (and that includes my husband) have no problem fending for themselves in my absence, and I am determined to make the most of this.
My sister and I headed out with a couple of our friends, and the payoff for this particular event was huge. I had never zip lined before, so I was certainly excited, but I honestly did not think I would have as much fun as I did. Once you got over thinking so much--how should I hold my feet, where do my hands go, when do I brake, should I break now, now, how about now--
it was just breath-taking and exhilarating. I basically want to go zip lining again and again and again. Not so easy of a hobby to indulge unfortunately.
In between the zip lines, they had charming diversions like a rope swing, a rope ladder, and a couple of repelling points. The guides also tried to incorporate regional history and botany...again, just enough to be interesting without being overbearing.

To say that I am excited would be an understatement. By then the boys will be even older and even more capable of watching their father for extended periods of time. Possibilities expand before my eyes.

First official teaser video for the OnePlus 3 is out
First official teaser video for the OnePlus 3 is out
OnePlus has outed a video teaser of its upcoming OnePlus 3 smartphone. Released by OnePlus India on YouTube, its just a 6-second video that doesnt reveal anything specific about the devices design or its specs.
However, what it does reveal is that the device will be made official on June 14 (10:00 PM), which is not inline with the June 15 date confirmed by OnePlus China recently.
It might simply be the case of the Chinese launch coming a day later than the international one. Aside from this, the teaser also tells us that the phone will be an Amazon exclusive.
In case you missed, OnePlus has announced that a total of 1,000 units of the OP3 will be up for grabs on June 6 in China. Read more about the flash sale here.

Three Ways to Get Data Out of Silos and Into Your Marketing Strategy
Three Ways to Get Data Out of Silos and Into Your Marketing Strategy
There are a lot of ways to organize information. And the bigger a company is, the more complicated it can be for employees to find the right data, let alone know how best to use or share that information to make more-informed decisions.
Chances are that some data is hidden in silos across your company. According to new research from Econsultancy in partnership with Google, 86% of senior executives agree: eliminating organizational silos is critical to expanding the use of data and analytics in decision-making.1
If teams dont talk, or if your organization doesnt have an integrated data strategy to harness marketing, customer, and advertising data, information and ideas wont flow freely. Here are three ways to break down data silos and get your organization on the path to a more collaborative, data-driven culture.
1. Make data accessible to everyone
If you have work to do to get your data house in order, youre not alone: 61% of marketing decision-makers struggled to access or integrate data they needed last year.2
The first step to making data more accessible is to outline a data strategy that identifies data owners and key points of contact for each information source. Next, define how to integrate data and related technologies, and provide standards and processes related to data security and privacy. Include guidelines for sharing data internally.
Democratizing access to data and insights enables employees at all levels to check their gut and that leads to better results. The same Econsultancy study found that marketing leaders are 1.6X as likely as their mainstream counterparts to strongly agree that open access to data leads to higher business performance.3
2. Champion the value of data-driven insights over gut feelings
Once data is made available to marketing managers and business decision-makers, make sure you champion a data-first mindset with your team. Using data effectively is a key differentiator for marketers who are ahead of the curve.
While a documented data and analytics strategy can provide a guide for all employees, support from the top helps set the tone. Nearly two-thirds of leading organizations say that their executives treat data-driven insights as more valuable than gut instinct.4
C-suite buy-in and other champions across the company help reinforce a data-driven culture by giving teams stuck in silos a nudge to collaborate and share analytic insights. Even better, this environment should give teams the incentive to align or share goals since data is core to campaign plans and marketing strategy.

3. Educate stakeholders on how to interpret the data
Having access to data is great, but if employees dont know how to use it, the insights will remain isolated and unused. Consider this: 75% of marketers agree that lack of education and training on data and analytics is the biggest barrier to more business decisions being made based on data insights.5
If a team is empowered with the right learnings, it will proactively integrate data rather than push it aside. Set up brown bag sessions or internal trainings, or provide employees access to self-paced learning modules.
Finally, consider pairing the data evangelists and data storytellers within your organization with different team members to identify areas of focus based on relevant business goals and the biggest opportunities.

VLC 2 0 for Android is out now with network browsing
VLC 2 0 for Android is out now with network browsing
After what seemed like age-long testing, VLC for Android 2.0 has graduated to stable release. Some things do take a long time to perfect, just remember how long Gmail had its "beta" subtitle and when it comes to LVC, there is definitely a reputation to live up to.

The main highlight of VLC 2.0 is its eagerly-anticipated network browsing feature, which is finally added to the mix. As fans would expect, it offers quite a versatile list of supported protocols, including Windows shares, UPnP, NFS, FTP and SFTP.
Another major milestone achieved through version 2.0 is the merge between the general Android and Android TV versions of the software. This not only unifies the experience and ensures quick update dissipation, but has also allowed VideoLAN to leave both the standard and TV interfaces in. You can switch between them on any of your devices right from the settings menu.
Other improvements in the new version include faster decoding and playback of all video types and a few rewritten components, like the notification controls and pop-up video. You can bet that there is still a lot more to come from the VideoLAN. For now, you can head on over to the Google Play store or hit the source link to get the update.

Grownups Night Out The Pearl in Rockland Maine
Grownups Night Out The Pearl in Rockland Maine
Here are a few of the choice comments that I receive on a near-daily basis about having twins:
1. God Bless You!
2. Better you than me!
3. My, dont you have your hands full!
4. I dont know how you do it!
I think this kind of constant reaction from people has sort of deep down convinced me that my children really are too much of a handful for the average babysitter. Not that many people have ever offered to watch my children just for the hay of it, but when they do, you sort of think, "Are you serious? Do you know what you are getting into? Will they both be alive when I get back?"
So my initial reaction when our friends in Rockland offered to watch the kids for a date night was something along the lines of, "Oh, that is so kind, but really you dont have to pretend as if that is really an option..."
Then something happened. I basically got taken outside and sissy-slapped by the other four adults who really really really wanted to eat a civilized dinner at a civilized pace. They pointed out to me that our friends also have twins, so they did in fact know what they were getting into and seriously, Stephanie, cut the cord and go out and have fun.
Touche. Lets go eat.
So while our awesome friends fed pizza to six kids and changed about 10 diapers, we went to The Pearl and had a lovely adult evening complete with multiple courses, an actual bottle of wine, and conversation after the check had been paid. The food was better than expected. We would have been content with basic tourist food in exchange for the charming view of the harbor. But all of our meals were actually quite good. The scallops were done to perfection and the chowder was some of the best out of those we sampled up and down the coast. One big disappointment: they were out of steamers. We had to take care of that craving a few nights later.
The highlight of the night was when one of our friends came back from the restroom and mentioned that he had just discovered a bread bar. Even though we had finished dinner and didnt have one spare bit of room for dessert, a collective gasp went up from the table. We hadnt been given any bread at all, much less been told that there was a BREAD BAR!!! I thought about the delicious mussels sauce that had been taken away unsopped. A crime!
My mother did what any sane human would do and decided we would have a bread course. She jumped up from the table and went over to the bread bar, slicing away at the loaf and piling up butter in a bowl. At that moment the hostess walked over and explained that the bread bar....was a busboy station. They ushered my mom away and offered to bring over a basket of bread.
So there we sat. Dinner over, all dishes cleared, and a big basket of bread and butter. We dug in. It was pretty good bread. And the wait staff got another good tourist story. A great time was had by all.

Walpack Inn The Perfect Gimmick for a Dinner Out with the Boys
Walpack Inn The Perfect Gimmick for a Dinner Out with the Boys
The question you want to ask your spouse is, "Can we eat here and not hate each other and our children by the end of the meal?" Also consider, "Will we even get to taste our food, or will we feel as if we might as well have used our dollar bills for kindling in tonights campfire?"
Of course the answers to these questions change as rapidly as the kids do. When the boys were around one year old and still enthralled with the basic concept of food, I remember sitting at a restaurant outside of Ocean City sipping on a pint of Bass while my boys happily tackled a crabcake and chewed on a straw. If they started to get antsy, we threw them a roll from the breadbasket and that bought us another 15 minutes or so.
Then we entered a restaurant black-out period wherein our boys ability to sit still for more than two minutes at any given moment was doubtful. This was when we came up with our picnic table rule. If a place had outside seating with room to roam and no sugar packets in sight, it was our favorite dining establishment regardless of the quality of food. That is also when we started to embrace the lunch-packing ritual on all of our trips.
We are in a shaky middle stage now: we never know what we are going to get, but we feel confident enough to try it out under certain circumstances. Last week the certain circumstances were that we were camping near a restaurant Jeremy and I had visited about 5 years ago. We had a great big steak dinner after a rigorous hike at Sunfish Pond in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.
We recreated the steak dinner last week at the Walpack Inn but this time had a much bigger table and created a much bigger mess. The boys behaved spectacularly and I was able to savor every bit of my prime rib.
The deer gimmick helped quite a bit. At the Walpack, they put corn out for the deer, who come right up to the restaurant windows to eat.
