Facebook Whats That
Facebook Whats That
Over the last few years, some of our readers have politely inquired as to why we have no Facebook page. There are many different answers to this question, but the simplest (and perhaps most influential) is that Jeremy and I are the only people under 40 in this great nation who have absolutely no idea how this whole Facebook thing works. That is right...up until a couple of weeks ago I had never officially liked anything in my whole entire life.
Well, we finally got the message that this is the easiest and least archaic way for most of you to follow us. So we have done the unimaginable and figured Facebook out. Actually that is not true. We are two-trick ponies at this point. I think we know how to like and share and that is about it.
But life is a journey, no? And these campers are all about growth. So go ahead and grow along with us by liking our Facebook page.
Or just keep clicking on that bookmark bar. It worked for us for years...

Get Paid For Uploading Videos On Facebook !!!
Get Paid For Uploading Videos On Facebook !!!
Facebook is working on how to start paying you for all those videos you add on Facebook just as YouTube does through adverts but dont get too excited yet as theres a twist on this story. A very painful and worrying one. If youre willing to compromise loosing some of your facebook fans or friends who usually view the videos you upload.
Remember the pre-roll ads on YouTube that often start earlier before the video you wish to view and might only be skipped after 5 seconds?
But Mark Zuckerberg dont fancy the YouTube-style ads so he is planning to introduce a different variety of advertising that might show to be very demanding.
??
I am talking about mid-roll ads. These ads are coming to facebook videos, and theyre going to interrupt what youre watching to display an advert.
The mid-roll advertisements comes out after you have watched a video for about 20 seconds. Thankfully it is for videos that are about 2 minutes in length, however they have the abilities to make men and women discontinue watching facebook videos after the initial 20 seconds.
Presently, Mid-roll ads have already been tested for live videos, however the brand new rollout will now comprise all videos on facebook.
Interestingly, Facebook will likely be sharing ad revenue with the content material creators, keeping 45% of all revenue for itself - just like YouTube does.
For now, this still in the testing mode, but if it proves successful then assume most videos you see on fb to become ad-infested pretty soon.
Meanwhile, I believe it will have option due to privacy issues on facebook. Facebook wouldnt want to infringe on users privacy by using adverts without users consent. This is my assumption by the way.
Stats shows that Facebook users are already watching one hundred million hours of video per day, so this may increasingly bag the social community some opportunity to make money by doing what they love doing.
Do you always upload videos on Facebook? This move can be a turnaround that will earn you some cash by just uploading videos.

Facebook Search History
Facebook Search History
A digital forensics investigator is often asked to answer the question, "What did the user search for?" Usually, the question revolves around Internet search engines, and producing a list depends on the browser in play as much as the search engine. With the 250+ search engines and the 130+ Internet browsers referenced in Wikipedia, where you will find these histories and in what format can vary wildly. Add to that the various tool bars that maintain data independent of the browser, and youre probably ready to surrender jump to another post on a topic less daunting!
But, you probably figured out from the title of this post that Im not going to discuss the over 33,800 browser/search engine possibilities you need to consider when producing a "search term" history. Instead, Im going to discuss something I just discovered, Facebook search history. And like so many web browsing sessions, I begin the discussion with a Google search....
Google Instant Predictions
Ill wager that most Internet users that have conducted an Internet search in the last two years have done so at least once using Google. If so, they have likely experienced Google Instant Predictions. Launched around September, 2010, Instant Predictions produces "instant" search results as you type. Search results begin populating based on Googles prediction of your search terms as you type them. From a forensics point of view, this produces a lot more Internet history. Every time Google populates results, its sending a webpage and elements. And unless the connection is slow or the typist is particularly fast, Google refreshes the search results page for every letter typed by the user! Consider a Google search using the Safari web browser for the term: "car wash" (obtained from the Safari Cache.db).
http://clients1.google.com/complete/search?client=safari&q=c
http://clients1.google.com/complete/search?client=safari&q=ca
http://clients1.google.com/complete/search?client=safari&q=car
http://clients1.google.com/complete/search?client=safari&q=car+
http://clients1.google.com/complete/search?client=safari&q=car+w
http://clients1.google.com/complete/search?client=safari&q=car+wa
http://clients1.google.com/complete/search?client=safari&q=car+was
http://clients1.google.com/complete/search?client=safari&q=car+wash
It is easy to see that an html page was cached for each of these URLs! What can be interesting, and entertaining, is that you can even follow typing errors such as typos, spelling errors, and the resulting backspaces!
Facebook Type Ahead Search
Ive recently discovered that Facebook produces a similar URL history for searches conducted through its website. Observe the following:
http://www.facebook.com/ajax/typeahead/search.php?__a=1&value=sl&viewer=##########&filter%5B0%5D=page&filter%5B1%5D=user&context=mentions&dark_launch=true&rsp=mentionsThe response speed of Facebook does not appear to be that of Google, but again, it is easy to see that facebook sent several responses that were cached by Safari related to a single search by way of the "typeahead" mechanism.
http://www.facebook.com/ajax/typeahead/search.php?__a=1&value=slo&viewer=##########&filter%5B0%5D=page&filter%5B1%5D=user&context=mentions&dark_launch=true&rsp=mentions
http://www.facebook.com/ajax/typeahead/search.php?__a=1&value=slo.&viewer=##########&filter%5B0%5D=page&filter%5B1%5D=user&context=mentions&dark_launch=true&rsp=mentions
http://www.facebook.com/ajax/typeahead/search.php?__a=1&value=slo.sl&viewer=##########&filter%5B0%5D=page&filter%5B1%5D=user&context=mentions&dark_launch=true&rsp=mentions
http://www.facebook.com/ajax/typeahead/search.php?__a=1&value=slo.sleuth&viewer=##########&filter%5B0%5D=page&filter%5B1%5D=user&context=mentions&dark_launch=true&rsp=mentions
Now, Facebook searches might be recorded in browser history databases, but consider that these databases may be destroyed through anti-forensics techniques or otherwise. Searching for URLs might be the only method at your disposal for producing search term histories. And now, like me, you know what to seek to reconstruct Facebook searches!

Get Facebook Bing Twitter more into Google Data Studio
Get Facebook Bing Twitter more into Google Data Studio
Google Data Studio is the biggest step forward in Googles data reporting & visualization offering since the launch of Google Analytics in 2005. It lets you build great-looking, interactive dashboards that you can share in a similar manner as Google Drive files (see for example this web analytics dashboard). Its a giant leap forward from the old Google Analytics dashboards and a game changer for online marketers.
Google Data Studio provides native integration with a few Google platforms (Google Analytics, AdWords, YouTube, BigQuery, Attribution 360). Of course, most marketers, to use Google Data Studio as their primary dashboarding tool, would like to include data from many more sources, such as Facebook Ads, Bing Ads and Twitter Ads.
Fortunately, theres a really simple method for adding many more data sources into Google Data Studio, using its Google Sheets connector. Heres a quick step-by-step guide for doing that.
1. Create a Google Sheet with data to be imported
There are a number of ways to do this. For instance, to get Facebook Ads data, you can go to Facebook Ads Manager to do a CSV export of your data, and then upload it to Google Drive. For some data sources, you can use spreadsheet functions like IMPORTXML. Or you can build your own Google Apps Script connectors.
For a fully automated data importing workflow, I recommend you try our Supermetrics add-on for Google Sheets (available here; free for 30 days, then $49/mo). It has an easy-to-use query builder and connects to a large number of data sources, like Facebook, Bing, Twitter, MailChimp, even Adobe SiteCatalyst.
To run a simple query using Supermetrics:
If you dont want to test Supermetrics now, you can make a copy of this sheet to try out the following steps.
2. Import the data into Google Data Studio
You can launch Google Data Studio here. If you havent yet used Data Studio, you can get the free version here (US only for the time being).
In DATA SOURCES, click the plus button in the lower-right corner:
From connectors, select Google Sheets and the file you just created, then click CONNECT
Next, Google shows you a list of fields imported from the Google Sheet. Click CREATE REPORT, and in the next window, ADD TO REPORT.
3. Using the data
You now have a blank report where you can start working with the data. To check everything has been imported ok, try inserting a table. You can change the columns displayed in the Table Properties sidebar.
You can then start building your report. After some trying, youll be able to make something great like this:
In many cases, you will want to include more than one Google Sheets data connector, to fetch data from different sources or with different metrics & dimensions. This can be done very easily, just repeat step 1 and 2. Go back to Google Sheets to fetch new data, e.g. Twitter Ads, to another sheet. Then in Data Studio, when adding a graph or table, in the properties sidebar press the arrow next to Data Source to add a connection to the new sheet.
4. Ensure your reports stay up-to-date
If you used the Supermetrics add-on to fetch data into Google Sheets, you can set the those queries to refresh automatically every day, so your Data Studio report will always have the latest data. In Google Sheets, go to Add-ons: Supermetrics: Schedule refresh & emailing, and store a daily refresh trigger.
Final thoughts
Google Data Studio is a powerful dashboarding tool for any marketer, but by default only works with Google platforms. To make the most of it, use its Google Sheets connector in combination with the Supermetrics Google Sheets add-on to build cross-channel reports.

Google Data Studio is a powerful dashboarding tool for any marketer, but by default only works with Google platforms. To make the most of it, use its Google Sheets connector in combination with the Supermetrics Google Sheets add-on to build cross-channel reports.
